Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez is now pushing to hitch Chelsea earlier than the top of the January switch window, in line with stories in Portugal.

Chelsea have been negotiating with Benfica for several weeks but have been unable to agree a cope with the Portuguese club for Argentina’s World Cup winner.

Nevertheless, Record reviews that Fernandez has had another change of heart and has indicated to Benfica that he needs to hitch Chelsea earlier than the window closes on Tuesday evening.

The report also claims that members of Chelsea’s hierarchy at the moment are travelling to Lisbon with a purpose to negotiate instantly with Benfica, just like how they secured a deal forward of Arsenal for Mykhailo Mudryk earlier this month.

Meanwhile, The Telegraph stories that Chelsea consider they will reach an settlement with Benfica earlier than Tuesday’s deadline.

When requested final week if he believes Fernandez will stay at Benfica, head coach Roger Schmidt stated: ‘Yes, in fact.
